Personalised / Logo Golf Balls

Q: Are there any artwork setup charges for the personalised golf balls?
A: No. The price shown is fully inclusive of all artwork and printing charges.

Q: What is the minimum order for personalised golf balls
A: Our minimum order is just 1 pack, usually 12 golf balls.

Q: How long will my order take to arrive?
A: For low volume order (up to 4 dozen balls) we usually print and dispatch your order the next working day (subject to stock). For larger orders please allow 10 working days. Orders that include other personalised items such as forks, markers or towels may take a few days longer to arrive.

Q: I would like my web address printed onto the ball. Is this possible?
A: Yes, it's possible but not recomended as long strings of text are often too small to read (See below for more details)

Q: In general, what prints best on the ball.
A: We can print almost anything but recomend staying away from long lines of text. Anything more than a single name can be very small and hard to read. If you must have more than a couple of words per line, try to place the line across the diameter of the ball. This is the widest point and we can make the text as large and readable as possible.

Q: I'm worried by text might be too small, how can I check it will be OK.
A: You can create the artwork yourself and print it on a inkjet print. Use some graphics software like Adobe Photoshop to create an image 22mm round at 600dpi. Once your happy with how this looks, upload it as part of your order and we'll use it to produce the personalised balls. The end results will be almost exactly the same allowing for the curved and dimpled surface of the ball against the flat, smooth surface of the paper.

Q: It's very important the colour's on my logo are exactly the same as my letterhead. Is this possible?
A: The simple answer is "No". We print using a digital RGB system while commercial printers tend to use CMYK. This means there will almost certainly be a very small difference. Plus, the balls surface will affect the the end result. If colour is important, we recomend ordering a proof ball so you can check how the logo will look on the ball before the main print run is completed.

Q: Are there any requirements for personalised golf balls?
A: Yes.....

  • Max solid print area is a 22mm circle
  • Prices are per pack when ordered in the amounts shown and include full colour printing
  • Artwork should be supplied in hi-res format (the higher the resolution, the better the print quality but a minimum of 600dpi)
  • printing is a chemical process and an exact colour match can not be guaranteed
  • Extra logo's (printing on two/three sides of the ball) incur additional charges..
  • Proof ball is available by post before printing main order for an additional cost (the proof ball may not be the same ball as your order.)
Print Area   Print Surface / Colour

The maximum print area on the golf ball is 25mm x 25mm - This includes 3mm of bleed. Unlike printing onto paper, it's possible to sometimes use the bleed area to increase the size of an irregular shaped logo or text.

With paper based printing, bleed is used to ensure colour is printed up to the edge of the paper and makes up for any differences between the print machine and the cutting tool.

When printing on to golf balls the bleed area can be used in the print design. However, due to the curve of the ball any print design in this area may blur.

If a design only includes a small amount of text, a very irregular shape or a photo with faded edges, it is possible to use the bleed area to increase the size of the main printed design. But this can not be guaranteed.

Because the print surface is curved, circlular shapes print better than ones with straight edges. Square or rectangular shapes are unable to take advantage of the full print area as the need to fit inside the "solid print area".

The uneven surface of the ball may also affect the size and quality of the finished printed logo. If a short straight edge is printed into the dimple it will bend and blur slightly. In order to achieve a good quality print, a long thin logo may need to be reduced below the maximum 22mm.

Print Colour

The print ink is applied to the ball using a chemical process. The ball surface (colour, texture and finish) has an affect on the final print colour. Therefore we can not guaratee the printed colour will be an exact match. We suggest ordering a proof ball, if colour matching is a concern.

The Best Designs

The best designs are circular and simple! The dimples and surface of the ball mean small detail is often lost. Where possible try to use a circular design.

Here are some examples of designs that we've printed recently. We can edit photos to cut out face's etc for you. Just tell us what you would like printed in the design notes.

The only thing we can't print is copyrighted material where you don't have permission to use it - anything else is fine!

Designs To Avoid

Circular designs work best when printed onto a golf ball because the print area is a 22mm circle (just under 1 inch).

  • Try to avoid long lines of text such as web addresses as these can be very small and hard to read.
  • Logo's with straight sides must fit within the 22mm circle (otherwise the edges will blur and distort). This means the actual logo will be less than 22mm wide, it's usually closer to 18mm depending on the size of the image.

Graphics Size

Your image needs to be at least 22mm x 22mm at 600 dpi - Don't worry if this doesn't mean anything to you. Most photographs taken on a digital camera will be a lot larger than this. We will resize the image so it prints correctly. However, it's always better for us to "shrink" an image than enlarge it as there is no reduction in quality. We can often increase the size if the image with little noticeable effect but this depends on the image and by how much we need to increase it. If we feel print quality will be poor, we'll let you know before printing takes place.

Use this template to confirm if your image is the correct size - the dotted line denotes the print area. If you picture (or the are you want printed) looks the the same size or larger than the image below when viewed on your PC - there's no problem. If it's considerably smaller you should consider using a different image.

If you would like to use this template to create you own artwork - Simply place the mouse pointer over the image and click the right-hand button. Then select "Save As" from the menu that appears.
